Jack Walsh was chosen by the French Embassy to welcome President Macron, to Sweny’s Joycean Pharmacy on his recent trip to Ireland. The Taoiseach and the Lord Mayor accompanied him on his walk.
Sweny’s is famous for being written about in James Joyce’s Ulysses.
Sweny’s is unique. Even though it is listed as one of the Top Ten Attractions in Dublin it is run by volunteers. Visitors from all over the world make their way to this unique place to browse, meet Jack, P.J. and other the volunteers and are welcome to take part in readings. Swenys also do readings online weekly to a world wide audience.
Jack has fluent French having spent 5 years in Paris many years ago. 3 of which were spent studying full time at the famous École International de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau and 2 years creating and touring with shows.
